How to Thread Needles With Embroidery Floss
Threading a needle with embroidery floss can be an exercise in frustration. However, a few helpful hints can turn this experience into a pleasant step on the way to completing your latest craft project. Depending on the materials you have on hand you can thread the needle using clear tape, a needle threader, or possibly no aid at all.
Things You'll Need:
- A needle
- Embroidery floss
- A needle threader
- Clear tape
- Scissors
- Use a pair of scissors to cut the end of the embroidery floss into a straight line. It is easier to thread the needle if all the strands of the floss are the same length. If you do not have any materials to help you thread the needle, simply twist the end of the embroidery floss into a point and try to thread it through the eye of the needle. In the event you are unsuccessful, wet the end of the embroidery floss, twist it more tightly and try again.
- Use a piece of clear tape to create a sharp end to thread through the eye of the needle. Wrap a small piece of clear tape around the end of the embroidery floss. Use a pair of scissors to cut off the excess tape and cut the end into a point. Push the taped end through the eye of the needle and then remove the tape.
- Use a needle threader. Squeeze the end together and push it through the eye of the needle. Place the end of the embroidery floss into the opening on the end of the needle threader and then use the needle threader to pull the floss through the eye of the needle. Slide the needle threader off the embroidery floss.
