How to Start a Window Washing Service

A window washing business is one of the least expensive and easiest businesses to start. There is good money that can be made depending on the number of contracts you have and it is a great way to work outdoors. Many businesses have lots of windows and they need to be cleaned regularly in order to keep a professional appearance.

  • Make some flyers or business cards
and pass them out at businesses that are close to your home. By doing this you spend less in gas and put less wear and tear on your
vehicle. In addition, speak to business owners and let them know you
are washing windows and offer them a discount. Keep in mind
these businesses may have a current window washer so they need an
    incentive to use you.

  • Purchase large and small
squeegees, buckets, brushes and window cleaner by the gallon
because you can mix this with water and save on money. Make sure to buy cotton rags because you need these to wipe the excess
water that the squeegee leaves behind.

  • Practice using the squeegees on
your own windows so you get the hang of
it. To make money, you have to do a good job in a short amount of
time and as with anything, practice makes perfect.

  • Do not hire anyone in the
beginning to help as you may only have one or two clients; therefore, you want to handle all the work on your own until you
    begin building your contracts.

  • Set your price lower than your
competitors because they probably have more experience. The key is getting contracts and doing
a good job so you can get your name out in the community.

  • Run your business from your home instead of a commercial office space
as this saves on overhead. Even some of the larger window
washing companies work from home in order to keep costs down.
Remember, the more you keep your costs down, the more money you are making. Do not skimp on quality window washing because
you do not want to lose contracts or get a bad reputation.
