Types of Window Cleaning Supplies

Cleaning windows requires the right supplies, or else result with unsightly streaks. The type of window cleaner you use can make all the difference. Cleaners do not require using the entire product, cost too much or need extra space for storage. Cleaning products come down to personal preferences.

Environmentally Friendly Products


These window cleaners use all-natural ingredients instead of harsh chemicals to clean. Most of these types are made with lemon or orange. They also do not leave chemical scent, which is great for those with allergies. It is possible to make your own supplies by simply using lemon juice or vinegar mixed with water, and get the same benefits.


Streak-Free Products


The best products will not leave streaks. Products like Windex are marketed and said to prevent this problem. They require the use of a soft cloth or cleaning pad once the solution is sprayed on. Windex Streak-Free Shine cleans both the outside and inside windows. Simply apply the solution and use one cleaning pad to clean as many as 20 windows. This is particularly great for windows placed out of reach.


Poles


Window cleaning may require the use of a pole. Use this product to reach second story windows from the outside. It attaches to a pad or some device. WaterFed is a brand that makes a variety of pole products, reaching heights up to 45 feet.


Glass Cleaning Solutions


Special glass cleaners that don't cause problems with brushes and sponges help clean even the toughest dirt. Titan Labs has several biodegradable solutions that leave a pleasant scent. These products are economical as well. One gallon of concentrated solution makes up to 1,200 gallons when mixed with water.


Brushes, Pads and Sponges


Getting the window cleaned does require a specific tool. Good sponges, cleaning pads and brushes will scrub away tough grime and prevent residue or streaks. Microfiber cloths work well also and in some cases, newspaper.
