How to Set Up a Korean BBQ Restaurant

Many people love barbecue. Starting a BBQ restaurant can be a very lucrative business venture, and Korean BBQ is particularly hot right now. Before starting your Korean BBQ restaurant, there are some things you will need to take care of to make sure you start your restaurant properly.

  1. Decide on a name for your BBQ restaurant. Choose an appealing name for your Korean BBQ restaurant and register it. Make sure the name is indicative of the type of food that is served in the restaurant. Adding "Korean BBQ restaurant," or "Korean BBQ" or "Korean barbecue" at the end of your business name will be suitable for a Korean BBQ restaurant.

  2. Contact your local health department to find out your city, county and state guidelines for operating restaurants. You can also contact your city or county clerk's office for information on obtaining all documentation you will need to legally operate your restaurant.

  3. Select a location for your BBQ restaurant. Pick a location that is easily accessible and convenient to customers. Be sure the restaurant is located close enough to the major road if you plan to offer takeout or fast food service, because people don't like to drive around looking for fast food. Look in the newspapers to find available rental space.

  4. Purchase the equipment and supplies needed for the restaurant. The equipment needed for your BBQ restaurant will include a fryer, freezer, refrigerator, grill, dishes, table cloths, pans, pots, cups, napkin holders, utensils, cutlery, chairs, tables and cash registers. You will also need a stationary or portable smoker.

  5. Hire staff for your BBQ restaurant. Hire reliable restaurant workers such as cashiers and assistants. Hire a chef who is an expert at Korean barbecue. Make sure you run a background check on these individuals before hiring them.

  6. Promote your Korean BBQ restaurant. Create a blog and website and place ads in print and online business directories. Distribute fliers throughout the community where your restaurant is located and in high-traffic locations where advertising materials are allowed. Offer discount coupons to promote your restaurant and attract customers.
