How to Repair a Satellite Television
There are a number of things that can cause satellite TV problems to occur. Inclement weather is a big factor in many satellite TV issues. In order to repair your satellite television you have to understand what is causing it malfunction.
- Call the satellite TV company and speak with someone from tech support. In many cases, a technician can troubleshoot a problem and walk you through the repair process. Be prepared to exercise a little patience when waiting to get someone on the line to help you with the problem.
- Check all of the cables connecting to your satellite receiver and TV. Make sure that all the connections are connected tightly and properly. Assess all the wires to make sure there isn’t any damage. If there is a severed cable, you’ll need to turn off your electricity and replace it with a new one.
- See how strong the signal you are getting is. If the signal is not strong the dish may need to be realigned. If you are not familiar with the realignment process, have a technician from the satellite TV company come out and align the dish for you.
- Look at the weather outside. Is it snowing or raining? Do you hear any thunder or see lightning strikes? High winds can also tear limbs off of trees that can fall on your dish and cause you to lose service. Wait until the storm passes before attempting to get rid of any tree limbs.
