How to Reconnect Your Cox Digital Cable

You may have moved to a new home, or just want to set up your Cox digital cable box for a new television. Regardless, it can be irritating to schedule for a technician to come your house to reconnect your digital cable. This task does not take any special skills or tools, but you do need to understand what you are doing.

What You Need

  • Digital cable box from Cox

  • Cable service from Cox Communication

  • Coaxial cable

  • 300 ohm matching transformer (optional)

Instructions

  1. Select a flat surface and place the Cox digital cable box and the TV on it. Position the equipment so that you can get to the back of them easily.

  2. Take the coaxial cable that is coming out of the wall of your home into your hand and plug it into the "Cable In" port that is located on the back-side of the Cox digital cable box.

  3. Plug the extra coaxial cable into the back of the Cox digital cable box at the "Cable Out" port.

  4. Take the other end of the extra coaxial cable in your hand and plug it into the "Antenna In" or a similar port that is located at the back of your TV.

  5. Plug the power cords for your TV and the Cox digital cable box into the power outlet closest to them.

  6. Use the TV channel selector to place the TV on channel 3 of 4.

  7. Find the power button on your TV and the Cox digital cable box and turn them on. It will take a few minutes for the cable box to boot up.

  8. Take the Cox remote control and install the batteries.

  9. Use the Cox digital cable box remote control to test the connection by selecting different channels. You can also press the channel buttons on the front of the box. If you do not see the channels appear on your television, use the channel selector to change the channel from 3 or 4, depending on where you placed it to begin with.
