How to Repair Insulation Under a Mobile House

You can make your mobile home energy efficient by repairing damaged insulation underneath it. Often times, mobile home owners don't think about this until the cold weather comes in. Repairing the insulation underneath your mobile home can be done easily with a little know how.

When insulating underneath your mobile home, be sure to have a good air flow going through and wear protective gloves and eye wear.



Things You'll Need



Insulation, roll type, R-19 is recommended



Cover fabric, such as felt or plastic



Insulation support wire



STEPS FOR REPAIRING INSULATION



1. Turn off all electricity and water supply.



2. Disconnect any plumbing or wiring underneath your home. The insulation will be placed above these.



3. Remove any old or damaged insulation.



4. Measure the length of replacement insulation you will need for each place of repair.



5. Cut your insulation to fit.



6. Working from the front of the trailer, place the insulation, back side down, between the floor beams.



7. Hold the insulation in place with insulation support wires.



8. Replace plumbing and wiring underneath the mobile home.



9. Install fabric cover over insulation by tacking it to the frame of your home.



10. Check to make sure you have replaced all the damaged areas.
