How to Make Spray Oil Body Products

Making spray oil body products is a great way to experiment with scents. Once you gather your favorite oil scents, you can mix and test combinations at home. This can save money in the long run and allow you to customize your own fragrances.

  1. Research scent combinations before mixing your oils, as some scents do not blend well together. You can easily recreate your favorite scents at home. For example, you can commonly find lemon and rose blends in retail stores.

  2. Pour two teaspoon of each of your oils into a large mixing bowl.

  3. Mix in four tablespoons of your spray base for every two teaspoons of oil. Common mixers include olive oil, witch hazel or grain alcohol. Examples of grain alcohol include vodka and Everclear. If you want your spray to moisturize your skin, opt for an oil mixer. For a perfume-like mixture, use alcohol as your base. Keep in mind that you must obtain a license to sell sprays containing alcohol, so use alcohol only if you are making sprays for personal use.

  4. Stir the mixture well and let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes. This allows the mixer to bond with the oils.

  5. Add one cup of water for every tablespoon of base in the mixture. If you used eight tablespoons of olive oil as a base, add eight cups of water to the mixture. If you want to make a purely moisturizing oil spray, do not add any water.

  6. Funnel the mixture into a spray bottle. Shake the mixture well before spraying or applying to your skin.
