How to Make Handmade Glycerin Soap

If you have sensitive skin and have been looking for a soap that does not contain any type of harsh chemicals or ingredients you should consider using glycerin soap. It is not only great to use on your skin, but it also easy to make.

Things Needed

  • Glycerin soap base

  • 1 teaspoon of beeswax

  • 1 ounce of castor oil

  • 2 ounces of ground oatmeal

  • 1 ounce of Shea butter

  • Sweet orange oil

  • Food coloring

  1. Melt the glycerin soap base in a double boiler over a low heat.

  2. Use a wooden spoon to stir the mixture until it is completely melted.

  3. Pour the mixture into a mixing bowl once the soap has melted.

  4. Pour the castor oil into the mixture. This is used to help the soap make lather.

  5. Add the shea butter, which is used as a moisturizer.

  6. Pour the bees wax into the mixture. This is used to make the soap hard, which will help it to last longer.

  7. Add in the ground oatmeal, which is used to add nourishment for the skin.

  8. Add 7 to 10 drops of the sweet orange oil to give the soap a pleasant scent. Do not add too much because you do not want the scent of the soap to be overbearing. You can add as much or as little as you like or you can skip it if you do not want the soap to have a scent.

  9. Add a couple of drops of food coloring of your choice.

  10. Pour the soap into molds and allow it to dry overnight.

  11. Remove the bars from the mold and use a knife to smooth out any rough edges.

  12. Wrap each bar in plastic wrap until ready to use.
