How to Make Easy Quilled Paper Flowers

How to Make Big Paper Flowers

Making big paper flowers has been an enjoyable pastime for children and adults alike.  They are easy to make and fun.  With some creativity and variation and some specific steps you can make these beautiful items, which can spruce up or decorate any decor or event.

Things You Will Need:

  • At Least 5 Large Pieces of Tissue Paper

  • A Strip of Pipe Cleaner

  • A Pair of Scissors

  • Pieces of Clear Tape

  • 1 Bamboo Garden Stake

  • Strips of Ribbon

  1. Spread out the large pieces of tissue paper and stack neatly on top of each other.  Fold the tissue paper uniformly lengthwise one inch from an end.  Using this fold as a guide, fold another one-inch width of paper in the opposite direction.  Continue to fold the rest of the tissue paper in this same manner accordion style.

  2. Twist the colored pipe cleaner once around the center of the folded tissue paper.  Take care not to tear the paper and maintain the folds in the process.

  3. Round the ends of the tissue paper by cutting each end with the scissors.  It is preferable to stack and cut the ends all at once.  This will ensure that the ends are uniformly cut.

  4. Take either the first or the last sheet of tissue paper and spread one half around the pipe cleaner so that it forms a semi circle.  Do the same with the other end and tape the two sides together.

  5. Turn it over, and gently pull up each individual piece of the folded tissue toward the center.  Continue until all sheets are spread open, creating the petals of the flower.

  6. Tie the end of the bamboo stake to the flower using the attached pipe cleaner.

  7. For variety, decorate the bamboo stick with the ribbon to look like a stem.
