How to Make Arch Window Curtains

Adding window curtains to your arched windows is the perfect way to soften the look your windows have and add additional décor to your room. Should you be experienced in sewing, you will find it quite easy to sew your own curtains for an arched window.

Materials:

  • Curtain rod and kit for arched windows

  • Measuring tape

  • Scissors

  • Fabric

  • Sewing machine

  • Thread

  • Iron

1. Install the rod inside your window casing following the directions on the package for the proper placement.

2. Measure the length you wish your arched curtains to be. Start at the tallest section of the rod and measure downward.

3. Add an additional three and one half-inches for the top and bottom hem.

4. Using the measurements for the panels, cut your chosen fabric.

5. Stitch the fabric together to fit the width needed for the panels. Include a half-inch seam allowance.

6. Stich a seam along the top of the curtain, measuring one half-inch.

7. Fold the bottom edge so that it forms a double one and a half-inch hem.

8. Sew the hemline shut with a basting stitch. Make sure not to press your curtain.

9. Insert the curtain rod into the tops of the curtain.

10. Hang the rod and allow to sit for three days. This allows the fabric to settle.

11. Remove the basting and adjust the hem as needed.

12.Using your sewing machine, place the final stitch in the hem.

13. Press your curtain and rehang.
