How to Find Cheap Limos

A limo can add the wow factor to any occasion but often can be outside of your budget but a "cheap limo" does not have the same impact.  With careful planning you can find a less expensive limo that is not a "cheap" limo. Here are a few tips to get you started looking in the right direction.

  • Plan ahead - Transportation companies make the most money off people who wait until the last minute to book limos.  When you plan ahead you are able to negoiate your rate and if they are not willing to meet your price you are able to move on the next company.

  • Do your research - Using your telephone book, cell phone app, or the Internet to research how many companies are in your area.  The more companies you have the better price you can find.  Call several and ask them what their best rate is.  Let them know that you are shopping around and will call them back after checking prices of other places.  They are more willing to give you a discount if they know that you are willing to go elsewhere.

  • Use your discounts - AARP, AAA, student, military, government or business discounts will all offer you better prices with some companies.  If your company uses a limo company frequently make sure that they know that you are a part of that company.  Contact your travel agent and ask about using your frequent flyer points towards renting a limo.

  • Be flexible - Rates are going to be higher on Saturday nights when the company has a lot of business then they are on a Tuesday night when they have less business.  Consider moving your occasion to the middle of the week.  If you are trying to find a cheap limo, do not ask for the newest car that they have on the lot.  The stretch Hummers, Escalades and other vehicles are going to be a lot of higher than a standard Limo.

  • Barter with the limo company - If you have goods and services that may be beneficial to the limo company, see if they are willing to trade you your services for a couple of hours of limo time.  You may be pleasantly surprised.
