How to Buy Clothing Racks
Whether you are starting a clothing store or trying to organize your walk-in closet, you likely need clothing racks. These racks make it simple to hang up clothing of any kind. However, it isn't enough to simply purchase the first clothing racks you come across. Instead, you must find the racks that will suit your needs.
- Consider the clothing you will place on the rack. If you are hanging tops and bottoms, you can get a two-tier rack as long as you fold the bottoms on the hanger instead of hanging them full length. If you hang pants full length, or if you are hanging dresses, you need a taller one-tier rack.
- Look at various styles. Some clothing racks are circular, some feature arms and others are just a straight bar across a frame. The space you have available for the racks usually dictates what style you need. For a clothing store, you may need multiple styles to accommodate any type of clothing and maximize your space. For personal use, straight-bar and round styles are usually ideal since racks featuring arms take up a lot of space without offering a lot of hanging space.
- Decide on the frame material you need. Generally, metal or wood racks are more durable than plastic racks. If you are purchasing racks for a business, metal or wood frames are usually a better choice; however, if you are purchasing racks for personal use, plastic ones are usually more economical.
- Think about add-ons. If you plan on moving the racks around often, choose racks that have rolling casters since they are easier to move. If you choose racks without casters, make sure that you have protective bottoms on the feet to prevent scratching. Even if you have carpeting in the area you will use the racks in, you still need protectors, as metal feet may damage the carpet.
