How to Build a Reception Desk

Building a reception desk can be a challenge if you do not know the outline. A reception desk needs to have plenty of room while also looking professional. Receptionists take pride in their desks, considering this is where they spend the majority of their day.

Items Needed

  • Paint Brushes

  • Wood

  • Tool Box with all necessary tools

  • Nails

  1. Choose a design for your reception desk. While style is important, try to pick out a desk that is not going to be hard to build. It is best to draw your idea down on paper. Keep this drawing with you through the building process.

  2. Saw your lumber according to your measurements. Considering you have gathered all of your material now is the time to cut your lumber. You can use a drawing pencil to leave markings at the appropriate measurements.

  3. Finish your wood with stain. Some professionals like to sand and stain their wood before the desk is put together. If you stain your wood now it will be less painful later.

  4. Build the frame of your reception desk. Depending on the plans you have created, you can start building the frame of your desk. Refer back to your blueprint if you have any questions about your initial design. Use the hammer and other tools as necessary to make sure all pieces are put together correctly.

  5. Finish your reception desk. Each reception desk may be put together a little differently. However, you can choose different types of wood to complete the desk. Complete the process of staining the wood, if not already completed.
