Cheap Bathroom Decorating Ideas
When redecorating a bathroom on a budget, you need to make a few concessions concerning the look and feel of the space. You may not get to use the brand of paint or the matching store-bought accents that you want, but that doesn't mean you won't end up with a great looking result that you're proud of.
Stick To A Color Scheme
Pick a color scheme, and then look for bathroom accessories and accents in those colors. Most department stores design the bathroom aisles so that items are organized by color. Finding matching red towels, shower curtains and soap dishes or matching green bath mats, washcloths and trashcans is a cinch. To keep costs down, only purchase two or three store-bought items because, when it comes to color, a little goes a long way.
Paint
Painting the walls or ceiling of a room is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to update its appearance. And, because the bathroom is the smallest room in the house means you won't have to purchase much. If you use a color scheme in the room, make sure you choose a paint that will complements it.
Use What You Have
With your bathroom's color scheme or theme in mind, conduct a walk-through of your home to determine whether you have anything that could be used in the space. This could be anything from a statuette from a cluttered bookcase to a wall shelf that's taking up space in the hallway. Any unused furniture or knick-knacks packed away in your garage should be considered as well.
Wall Art
Although you'd never know it from browsing the wall art section of a department store, artwork can actually be cheaply obtained if you know where to look. Purchase frames at a thrift store, and give them a new look by staining or painting them. Then get to work searching for pieces that will fit their dimensions. Have a cherished photograph blown up, or cut out an interesting picture from a magazine. You could also find images online and print them out yourself.
