Dardanelle, a city in Yell County in the state of Arkansas, has a population of about 5,000. Located near beautiful Lake Dardanelle, the city is part of the Russellville Micropolitan Statistical Area. Officially incorporated into Arkansas in the 1860s, Dardanelle is one the oldest cities in the state. Thanks to its location on the Arkansas River, Dardanelle has been a popular location throughout history for its ability to provide great transportation to goods flowing in and out of Arkansas. Right now Dardanelle’s downtown area is currently under a reconstruction. After seemingly falling apart, Front Street on the river is now in the middle of being revitalized to attract more tourists and make Dardanelle as picturesque as it once was. Other main shopping areas in the city include Union Street and 2nd street. One of the largest employers is the Wal-Mart Supercenter that opened in October of 2005. The city is also well-known for its good food. Some restaurants to check out would be Daly’s Downtown and Savannah’. Catfish ‘N was ranked one of the best restaurants in America by USA Today, but Dari Delite is the favorite hangout for kids in the area. There are also a number of things to do in the city like sitting on the shores of Lake Dardanelle, go for a hike in Mount Nebo State Park or visit the Holla Bend National Wildlife Refuge.
