Established in 1870 Grand Bay is sited halfway between the Alabama/Mississippi state line and the town of St. Elmo, Alabama, and is minute picturesque drive to the dazzling beaches of Dauphin Island and the Gulf of Mexico. It is a gracious commuter community with easy access to schools, churches and shopping. A larger part of the rural land around Grand Bay is planted in pecan trees. In addition, the area has become home to a large peach business and satsumas. Apart from this Hunting, fishing, golfing, camping and water sports are only at infinitesimal distance from home. Pecan orchards are a big part of Grand Bay's agricultural heritage. Watermelons of Grand Bay, however, are the crops most renowned and famous with the community.
