Why I should have my home pressure washed.

There are many reasons people want to have their homes, and concrete pressure washed most of the time it's for curb appeal. Below are listed several great reasons beyond&including; curb appeal for having your home pressure washed. Preventative Maintenance The main reason to have your home pressure washed is to save money on costly future repairs. Pressure  washing should be a regularly scheduled home maintenance event, just like gutter cleaning or fertilizer  application. Unfortunately, preventative maintenance is not always a top priority to the homeowner. When  done at least once a year, pressure washing can help eliminate contaminants that contribute to rot, decay and premature aging of the home. To put it simply, pressure washing can add years of life to your property.  Curb Appeal Another great reason to have your home pressure washed is aesthetic attractiveness. A home is a major  financial commitment and you want it to look good. Obviously, stains and mildew on a home can be a  depressing sight. Customers who were originally looking to repaint or replace these areas are always amazed at the results and savings after a thorough pressure washing. Additionally, for those looking to sell their home, consider the importance of curb appeal. A good first impression can add as much as 5-10% to the value of the home. Pressure washing is one of the most affordable ways to increase your home’s value.  Health and Safety There are contaminants all around us that pose risks to our health, including dirt, mold, mildew and oil.  Pressure washing can help protect your family from the intrusion of these outside allergens. Mildew and algae  have a tendency to grow on the damp and shadowed sidewalks surrounding your home, especially in tree  covered areas of the Deep South. Removing oil, mildew and algae from walkways  can help protect your family and visitors from injuries caused by slipping and falling. ...read more

Maintaining your freshly pressure washed driveway

Have you invested in having your driveway or sidewalks pressure washed this Spring or Summer? If so you've probably asked yourself or whoever did the work how long will my concrete stay clean? This is a good question and varies upon many different factors including what part of the country you live in (humidity levels), how much sunlight the area gets, how many trees and shrubs surround the concrete- as trees and concrete not only provide shade they also provide plenty of sugars for mold to feast off of. If you do not maintain your concrete after it has been cleaned, how quick it will turn back to that nasty moldy black color is anyones guess-as previously mentioned it depends on many different factors which can come into play. The best thing to do to ensure your concrete stays clean as long as possible without having to hire someone like myself to come back out and pressure wash it is (if you have the time) to do regular maintenance on it. You're probably asking yourself what type of maintenance am I writing about, well it's actually quite simple all you need is a 1-3 gallon compression (pump up) sprayer and some Sodium Hypochlorite 6.25% will suffice(Clorox Bleach) Fill your pump up sprayer with about a 50/50 water/Clorox mix (always be careful when handling Clorox as it is a caustic chemical and can and will cause burns if not handled carefully) about every three to six months depending on the previously mentioned factors- spray your concrete down throughly and let sit for 5-10 minutes then rinse concrete down with your garden hose preferably with a spray nozzle to get the most pressure you can get out of your spicket. Also keep in mind to keep this chemical mix away from any delicate flowers or plants, not to mention avoid direct contact with your grass, as far as runoff onto grass I've personally never had any problems with this considering I will use this same type set-up on extremely moldy concrete before I pressure wash it w/ up to 4500 p.s.i. of pressure as this really makes the concrete pop with brightness vs. pressure washing alone. As mentioned I've personally never had any problems with this 50/50 mix running off onto grass, yet I would say proceed with caution if your working around high end lawns. If followed properly this simple maintenance procedure after having your concrete pressure washed should help keep your concrete clean much longer(perhaps up to 2-4 years maybe more) than if you were to simply let it go. Hope this is of some help to some, and hopefully will save you some money considering pressure washing of concrete isn't exactly cheap.    ...read more
