Daniel's Personalized Guide Service

1.0

By docj

Boat is uncomfortable and should be a 4 pak not a 6 pak. There is limited seating and six cannot fish all at same time. The boat has shallow sides and if you are six foot or taller, you'll constantly be hitting shins as you try to brace against side. Equipment is marginal. We had a reel that malfunctioned and lost fish because of it. Daniel cannot teach and has little patience for first timers. There is no deck hand, so you will loose considerable fishing time waiting on Daniel. ...read more

Central Charter Booking Agency

1.0

By Diane Erickson

We booked at least 2 months in advance for 4 people (out of town guests and ourselves) to go to Halibut Cove and have a special dinner together at the Saltry Restaurant. Less than 3 weeks from the date of our reservation we were called and told that it was Pirate Night and that it would cost us $40/person for a buffet dinner. This was not the quiet, special dinner with good friends that we had planned. We don't live in Homer and had made reservations for several events in Homer that weekend (and paid in advance for all) so we had no options for another date. The manager's response was simply, "well, it is your bad luck to have booked ahead. We decided yesterday it was Pirate night." To top it off, she told me Pirate Night is an annual event, so why didn't they know about it when we booked? "sorry but your bad luck" is not an appropraite response. I've heard that Central Charters is pretty arrogant about customer relations. My experience confirmed it ...read more

END OF SEASON

Summer is coming to an end and with that our fishing season is slowing down.  Time to start thinking about next year and get out some advice for those of you who are already planning your next fishing trip to Alaska.  The price of fuel this year has really taken a toll on the average price for a day of fishing.  Our multi day trips are getting to be the best bang for your buck.  For example: Day Trip -Combo for Halibut, Lingcod, Rockfish, Salmon, $350, Lodging $150, Fish processing $100 Food $100, Car Rental $100  =$800 per day Multi Day trip -  All of the above are included in the price for our 3,4,5 day trips for 6 people= $500 per day per person which is a savings of $300 per day.  So if you are planning on fishing for 3 or more days you might want to consider us and come let us do all the leg work for your next trip.  Just remember that July is the busy month and first come first serve for this month which is already starting to book up.  A special thank you to all of our clientsandnew friends who made this a successful year.                                                   ...read more

Multi Day fishing a sucess

Our multi day fishing trips have really been bringing in the fish.  Several  Halibut over 100 lbs on just about every trip.  The silver salmon are starting to run and the salmon derby started July 9th and runs through the 17th.  Even though the weather has been a little rainy and cool it has been great for the fishing waters.  I think summer has finally found us as we have had more sun in August already than the whole month of July. ...read more

BIG FISH

Our multi day trips are catching some big fish.  Our last trip hooked a 190 lb Halibut and a 145 lb  Halibut along with giant Lingcod and black sea bass.  The sea bass is awsome to catch and eat.  We grilled them for dinner one of the nights spent in a breath taking cove.  The weather has been a little cooler than normal but this has produced some great sea's for fishing.  You can take a look at our big fish in our picture gallery.  Come join us for a memorable fishing trip. ...read more
