Because your oscilloscope has several input channels with their amplifiers (also called dividers) and these amplifiers still have selectable levels. That sounds like high diversity. Because each of these channels must comply with the specified cut-off frequency in each specific divider setting. To measure the cutoff frequency, you have to turn on your oscilloscope and let it warm up to operating temperature. With most devices, you play it safe with a waiting time of 10-15 minutes. You choose the channel and the corresponding settings for which you would like to make the measurements (e.g., AC, channel 2, 5mV). Then you take an amplitude-stable sine wave generator (50ohm) as the signal source and connect it to your device. The time base we leave out at this point - it does not affect our measurement). You choose a very low frequency, where your oscilloscope is not affected by attenuation (e.g., 1MHz or 100kHz). Now you adjust the curve of the sine wave generator so that its amplitude (highest setting) fills the full height of the screen. By increasing the frequency, you set the amplitude so that it occupies the full-screen height. That's the starting point. In the following, you gradually increase the frequency of the sine wave generator until the amplitude only equals 0.707 times the screen height. A small example: at 8 Div (Div = Unit) screen height, the amplitude has its highest value at 5.7Div (exactly: 5.657Div). In this setting, the frequency of the sine wave generator corresponds to the cutoff frequency of the oscilloscope.
