New York, Dallas – October 2013 – Lee&Stone is working on three separate matters involving start up growth companies spearheaded by seasoned entrepreneurs as the companies prepare for financing rounds and/or commercial launch. The firm was selected because the firm’s partners had worked with the respective entrepreneurs on their prior companies, as well as the firm’s perspective and experience in handling sophisticated transactional, financing and business planning issues in the launch phases and its relationships in the investment community. Lee&Stone’s practice of working with select, highly promising start ups and their principals serves as a nice complement to its dedicated practice working with investment advisers, including venture capital.
Lee&Stone engaged for a trio of mid-market M&A transactions
Fort Worth, Dallas –September/October 2013 – In an optimistic sign for the market, Lee & Stone is representing parties in three distinct M&A engagements. The transactions each involve family owned lower middle market businesses; two are on the buy side and one is on the sell side. The engagements underscore Lee & Stone’s strong transactional expertise and its role as trusted adviser to prominent local DFW families. In one case, Lee & Stone was selected because it serves as an effective alternative to larger full service firms considered for the deal, as the client was focused on the firm’s tactical orientation as well as cost and responsiveness.
Lee & Stone negotiates exit on behalf of innovative client
San Francisco – September 2013 – Lee & Stone negotiated an exit for investors in a client company, which had developed an innovative transactional technology platform for private investment opportunities. In this particular case, Lee & Stone also held an equity interest in the company, which was welcomed by the client. Lee & Stone worked closely with the principals to negotiate the exit arrangement, which provides for ongoing economics from transactions occurring on the platform as well as a continuing interest in the acquiring company. In certain instances and subject to applicable and effective conflict waivers, Lee & Stone may participate in client opportunities.
Lee & Stone retained again for systematic regulatory compliance oversight
Dallas – September 2013 – Illustrating increasing demand for “strategic” compliance support, Lee & Stone has been engaged by another seasoned manager to provide compliance oversight and management. Dallas – August 2013 – Lee & Stone was engaged by seasoned professionals on the structuring and launch of a private investment vehicle focused on capitalizing on fracking related opportunities, including salt water recycling and disposal technologies. The anticipated investment product brings together various core Lee & Stone strengths, including fund formation, securities and regulatory matters. The work required proficiency with the sector and strategy, as well as responsiveness. As noted by the firm before, the engagement is another illustration of managers approaching Lee & Stone to assist in structuring funds to address particular investor audiences or exploit specific market opportunities.

Louisiana – August 2013 – Lee & Stone is representing a highly experienced manager on the launch of a new investment fund. Lee & Stone’s boutique practice and the hands on approach of its partners compared favorably with larger firms, who were also evaluated for the assignment. In addition to fund formation work, Lee & Stone’s work involves structuring and drafted a sophisticated arrangement between the investment principals themselves in which one principal is contributing launch capital for the manager.
