Is Travertine safe around a pool?

This is one of the most common questions we receive about travertine pavers. Travertine pavers come in a variety of finishes such as honed and filled, brushed chiseled edge,  and tumbled. Depending on which finish you choose will determine how safe it is around the pool. We recommend you use a tumbled travertine paver around your pool since there are more holes in the paver for the water to absorb into. Do I have to seal my travertine pavers?

Travertine is a natural stone that is very porous and will stain if not protected so you should seal your travertine tile or pavers with a good sealer.
