Reviews about Citron Restaurant
great service, food subpar
very courteous, friendly, and somewhat attentive staff, but the food was pedestrian at best.
lobster bisque was pitiful, my salmon overcooked/dry, the 'sauce' very watery, the baby potatoes nicely steamed, but neither integrated nor complemented the rest of the dish.
the food selection was strange, and limited.
was it the chef's night off?
not recommending - highly overrated,
but did find street parking within a block!
Loved It.
I had a wonderful experience at Citron. A few friends and I dropped in 10 minutes before they closed for Sunday brunch, which isn't the best way to start off a nice meal. But, our server was very welcoming, reassuring, and totally adorable. I had the falafel with a trio of salads... it was divine. I didn't sample the others' plates as I do not partake of meat, but they were all very impressed. The prices seemed very cheap for the quality of food and service we received. I highly recommend it.

We went to Citron for a special occassion, in the spirit of looking for new places in the East Bay, rather than going to SF for birthdays, etc.
The ambiance was lovely, we had a great seating, and we were able to easily book a reservation on line. Service was attentive and very friendly.
Now for the bad part, the food! Maybe the chef was having a rough night, but my lobster bisque was extremely salty and had a hard, metallic taste, my duck sausage was greasy and my main course of roasted chicken featured what looked more like a cornish game hen than a chicken with about 3 bites of chicken and a dried up and chewy dressing.
My lovely companion had a wonderful cannolli, but her lamb was over cooked and the sauce with it was too sweet and over-reduced.
We both concluded that whoever was doing the cooking had a very "heavy hand"
Although we loved the atmosphere, and the drinks were quite good, we would not return.
