Wiederkehr Weinkeller Restaurant

The restaurant has seen its better days. Several years ago it was a great place to eat as well as visit. The restaurant is located next to Wiederkehr Winery in the original wine cellar over 100 years old. My husband and I visited several times back in the late 70's and throughout the 80's. The grounds were well kept, the food was great and the atmosphere was fun, romantic and warm. It is sad to say that all has changed over the past 15 years. The entire winery and restaurant facility has become run down and unkept. The place is literally rotting down. The wine is not as good and the food has followed. This past week when we visited for the first time in six years, it was sad. From the broken down bill boards to the rotting fences and buildings. The food was OK but not worth the price. The next time we pass through, we will wait and eat in Russellville or Ft. Smith. I'm sorry to see a family business so mismanaged that it appears to be abandoned.
