About Spooner, WI
Spooner is a part of Washburn County, in the nothwestern region of Wisconsin known for its nickname, "Crossroads of the North" a reference to the fact that the city is at the junction of two U.S. highways. the city is named after Senator John Coit Spooner. It had a population of only 2,653 at the 2000 census. Major attractions include Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad and The Wisconsin Canoe Heritage Museum. Each year in the summer season Spooner has hosted the "Heart of the North Rodeo", and " Jack Pine Savage Days". One of the best places to visit when you are in Spooner is Governor Tommy Thompson Fish Hatchery, the largest hatchery of its kind in the world.
