About Great Falls, VA
Great Falls is part of Fairfax County in Northern Virginia, an area that serves as a scenic and dynamic suburb to Washington, D.C. As such, the Federal Government is a major employer. Students attend Great Falls and Forestville Elementary Schools, within the Fairfax County School District. The Great Falls Art Center promotes the visual arts to both young students and adults. Colvin Run Mill is a historic local attraction and features a wooden water mill from the 19th Century. The mill puts on a special Father's Day event, when dads have the chance to learn woodworking and hand-crank their own ice cream with their children looking on. The area has a long and detailed past, according to the local historical society, and George Washington once owned land there.
