About Courtland, VA
Courtland is a city located in Southampton County, Virginia. It is also the county seat. The city, which was established in 1791, was originally called Jerusalem. The city is home to the Courtland Historic Walking Tour, the Shands Park, and the Southampton Agriculture and Forestry Museum/Heritage Museum. Students living in the city attend the Southampton County Public Schools. The Southampton Academy, a college prep school, is also located in the city.
