My husband and I decided to book a third stay for October. He booked it over the phone with Patti, requesting a Fri./Sat. night stay. Somehow, there was a miscommunication , and Sat./Sun. nights were booked. It is word v. word as to who caused the mix-up. 2 weeks prior to our trip in October, my husband's mother passed away unexpectedly and tragically. We completely forgot about our upcoming trip and the confirmation email went unchecked due to the chaos. We returned home from the funeral less than 10 days before our stay. We called to confirm our reservation on Fri,, only to be told that the reservation was for Sat./Sun. and could not be rescheduled or canceled under any circumstances. We would be charged the $500 regardless, unless the rooms could be re-rented at the last minute. Neither of us could get Monday off of work at the last minute, because we had just taken time off for the funeral and arrangements.I talked to Patti and told her of our circumstances, and never once did she offer her condolences. Instead, she said that it would be unfair for her to be out the money for Sunday night ($219) due to our circumstances. She said that she should not have to lose money, that a lot of her customers have stayed there multiple times, and that exceptions cannot be made. I asked her what if the guest that made the reservation were to die within the 10-day window, and she replied that he would still be responsible for the charges.
