New Braunfels is a part of the San Antonio–New Braunfels metro area of Texas, known for its large number of German Texans, strong German influences, and its cold-spring rivers. Major attractions include the Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort and The Other Place Resort. Every November, a German-style festival is held (Wurstfest, "sausage festival") to celebrate the town's German heritage. Among the biggest companies in New Braunfels are General Dynamics and Baptist Health System. The biggest schools here are the Central Texas Technology Center and Texas State University. One of the best places to visit when you are in New Braunfels is the Gruene Historical District, which is a small settler's town which was founded within the city limits of New Braunfels.
