About Gilchrist, TX
Gilchrist is in Galveston County, Texas. The community was previously known as Rollover Pass. Gilchrist was all but destroyed by hurricane Ike in 2008 and continues to rebuild. This area is very popular with fisherman as it boasts some of the largest fish in the state. Major attractions are the Lone Star Flight Museum and Seawolf Park. Gilchrist children attend High Island Elementary and High Island High School. Local businesses include Dirty Pelican and Hazels RV Park.
