Edinburg, located in the Rio Grande Valley is the county seat of Hidalgo, the 7th largest county in Texas. Edinburg has the state's 10th largest public university (University of Texas-Pan American) and has also been recognized as an All America City. Major attractions in Edinburg include Southern Pacific Railroad Depot, The Museum of South Texas History and Tejano Walk of Fame. Each year during the last week of Febuary, the town holds a 4-day fiesta which include live concerts, city parades, rodeo and assortments of food booths. Apart from the UTPA, Edinburg has the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District, comprising of 29 schools. One of the best places to visit when you are in Edinburg is the El Sal del Rey (Salt of The King), a salt lake 22 miles north of Edinburg.
