Bill, Mike and Gary are pros in the hot rod industry. While it is hard to get them on the phone at times, that is because so many people value their time enough to actually visit them in person. It's always a pleasure to spend an hour away from my shop to visit these guys and pick their minds about our projects. Krawltex Motorsports has been open since 2006 and will continue to patron their business for the great service and knowledge that only comes from years of experience in the high performance aftermarket world. ...read more

Very, very friendly and knowledgeable. I am rebuilding a 1978 K5 Blazer and needed a semi special part (EGR block of plate) and an Edelbrock fuel line "Banjo" fitting. They had both of which available no problem. This store really does seem to do it all. If you are looking to get your part locally and don't mind paying an extra couple of bucks compared to Jegs or Summit (which keep in mind charge you shipping.) Then this is the place for you. They have a lot of specialty stuff such as a NOS fill station. The only down side to this place is that they don't have a sign so it is hard to fine. But its right next to the corvette repair shop ...read more

I was having issues with my Porsche '87 924S and started looking for a new mechanic. I was getting poor results from our mechanic in Northwest Austin so I asked around and settled on trying Moorespeed. I wish we'd found them years ago, but ... ...read more

They are local and stock a wide range of parts and I am able to go get what I need now. I hate to stop a project for a few days while I wait on Jegs etc to ship me the parts. They are know their stuff and are willing to offer their opinions if you simply ask for help. ...read more

I HAVE SPENT A FORTUNE IN THIS STORE AND HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED. IF YOU WANT CHEAP PARTS AND AMATEUR ADVICE GO TO A DISCOUNT CHAIN STORE. THESE GUYS SAVED ME MUCH MORE WITH SAGE ADVICE THAN I COULD HAVE SAVED BY GOING TO A CHAIN STORE AND GETTING CHEAP (INFERIOR) PARTS. I WAS A NOVICE IN BUILDING A CAR AND WAS TREATED WITH RESPECT AND PATIENCE. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THESE GUYS HIGH ENOUGH. THEY ARE PROBLEM SOLVERS, NOT PROBLEM CREATORS. ...read more

Soulspeed Performance

SoulSpeed is now owned by Collin Stith. Collin and his service adviser, Jasper, have been working on my 2006 Lotus Exige since I got it last year. Collin really knows his stuff when it comes to alignment. He uses a very accurate system that produces excellent results and he stands by his work. The Exige has probably the most sensitive steering of any street car and Collin was able to get the alignment done perfectly. I've also had him put new tires on my car multiple times (lots of track time tends to eat the tires pretty quickly) and the tires are always perfectly balanced. My car is extremely sensitive to anything being out of sorts and it always comes out of SoulSpeed in top shape. My safety is on the line at the track and I depend on Collin and Jasper to make my car work at the limits on a track. I would highly recommend SoulSpeed to anyone who needs to have their car set up perfectly. ...read more

I had intended to use Soulspeed (Bill Kim, owner) based on some positive reviews I had from members of a forum I frequent. I had two cars needing alignment, one car that had run over a large piece of lumber. I questioned Bill extensively about his ability to fix the alignment and after a time he rightfully said he could not diagnose anymore over the phone. I also set up an alignment for my other car at the same time, but on the day of the alignment, the weather was horrible (ice storm in Austin) and I emailed him to say I would not be able to make it - below was his response:\t\nHi Tom, Thanks for letting me know early. \t\nI did leave a message for you last week canceling this appointment, but I guess you did not receive it.\t\nIn short, I would like you to take your business elsewhere and we will not work on any of your cars.\t\nThe reason is that you tried to lie and manipulate me into doing free diagnostic for your daughter's car and I do not do business with people who try to lie and cheat me. Thanks, Bill Kim\t\nHere was my response:\t\nI was attempting to assess if you could handle this via alignment, which appears to be your primary business (not major body or chassis repairs) or if it needed more serious work. In short, my intent was to give you work, not take work away from you. That is unfortunate that you treat a potential customer this way. This is an unusual and franky disturbing response based on a single phone conversation. Please explain.\t\nSummary:\t\nHis response was well out of line and made significant assumptions about someone he had never met. Is this the type of vendor you want to do business with? Apparently he feels that I can "cheat" someone by asking questions to ensure that if I have work done, that the vendor is capable of doing the work. I guess I am not supposed to do that. Bottom-line, I would not recommend Bill Kim despite his reputation for good work. His attitude towards his customers is not acceptable in the least. ...read more

Best Ways to Take Auto Racing Photos

Automobile races have a reputation for being difficult to photograph. In part, this is because the speed of cars when they are actually racing requires special techniques, usually panning with the motion of a car to freeze its motion while blurring the background, thus giving an impression of speed.
