The premises must be secure and clean. This is a founding condition on which all the other requirements are built. The security must be in place from the moment kids board the bus to the time they return home. In terms of cleanliness, the school must strive to eliminate any health hazard that may eventuate from the environment, food, fellow kids, ablution facilities and so forth. You may want to request a tour of the school facilities such as the kitchen and toilets among other measures you can take to establish the status of the school. Check to see if there is a clean area for eating, trash area and a medicine cabinet or better still a clinic. The furniture and other stuff such as toys must be safe for children and not have any sharp edges or toxic paintings and small loose components that can be swallowed. Electric cables and sockets must be secure as well.
The teachers must be caring and trained. It must be appreciated that though they may be many people trained and capable of teaching, few of them have the heart and patience to deal with little kids. The abilities of the teachers must be backed up by sustained training and retraining programs. Things such as coercion and physical punishment should never be found in the preschool environment.
Other elements of a good preschool include a low teacher to student ratio, a curriculum and approach that are holistic, the existence of some form of routine and structure, a healthy variety in instructional materials, materials for the play area, a physical health program and above all a feel good atmosphere.

All the teachers, not just his own, know his name and his interests. They have take...n the time to learn about him so that they can take better care of him. I can't say enough good things about Summerlin. My four year old LOVES it! As a working mom, it's nice to be able to go to work each day and not worry about my child. I live over an hour away from this daycare and purposely tried to get a job near this daycare. I tried other daycares that were on my route to work and they just don’t compare. My kids are comfortable here, all the teachers know my kids names and vice versa. They make... my children feel loved and that is important to me when choosing a daycare. They care for them when they are sick which is important when I have to work. Kids are going to get sick and not always get along with each other but I can feel rested while I am at work knowing they are getting the best care possible and at a good tution rate.
