About Spruce Apartments

It takes a vast piece of land, filled with lush groves of apple blossoms and mature redwoods, to take you miles from everywhere else, but keep you close to it all: 21 acres to be precise, all on the grounds of Spruce, all right in Silicon Valley. A mile from downtown Sunnyvale and Caltrain, Spruce Apartments feels a world away with four lighted tennis courts, three swimming pools, a sand volleyball court, an outdoor yoga deck and more. And did we mention the recently renovated 12,000-square-foot clubhouse? Inside, you'll never be without WiFi and there's usually a heated game of pool or table tennis in play.

Den of cockroaches

My family living in this apartment for the last 8 years. First 3 years the services were great, but after 2008 recession the management layoff lot of maintenance/cleaning people.
So now this place is a den of cockroaches, running around all over places. Even it is now coming to my laptop while working. Seems that they no more afraid of human.
I hate this place but still continuing since my kid got lot of kids in the same floor and able to enjoy the life.

Pathetic Maintenance, Callous Management and Bedbugs!

I stayed here from July 09 to Oct 10. It has persistent bug problems that the management was not able to handle professionally. Some months after moving in I noticed bugs on the bedroom wall, took photos of them, and reported to the management desk who logged it in a log. For more than a month no bug inspector came to my apartment. By then I found out the bugs were bedbugs and it became an infestation. After a second complaint they sent the exterminator. A month passed and the bugs came back again. That needed another bug treatment for which I had to spend another 20 hrs preparing the apartment. I lost confidence in their bug treatment, got rid of all furniture and got new stuff. Instead of admitting responsibility and fix the bug problem professionally, their 'pest control Manager' kept blatantly insisting I did not report on time and that was the cause of the problem.

In all likelihood the bugs were deep inside some air vents and came out after a while or crawled in from neighbors balconies. There were many neighbor balconies that were being used as storage. I heard of many other residents complaining about bedbugs. Bedbugs are a nightmare and it looks like they are hard to fully exterminate. Add to that the incompetent and callous management and that problem will make your life a nightmare.

On the plus side the gym is good although it gets crowded in the evenings.

Instead of employees fully commited to essential functions they have unnecessary things like free cake once a week which gets the gym entrance crowded by free loaders. The management staff are all incompetent and as a side note they all have unhappy faces. The exterior appearance with the greenery, pools and tennis courts is deceptive - Don't ever go to Fair Oaks West.

Forget about Deposit.....be prepare to pay extra Bucks$$$$

I lived here for an year. The management really became greedy. After a year, they increased my rent from $1255 to $1425. I had not other choice but to leave. The rents are way too expensive for the kind of apartments they have. check and compare with the surrounding places before signing the lease. And one thing is for sure... FORGET about your DEPOSIT. I was shocked to be told (after I moved out) I HAVE TO PAY usual cleaning charges, even if the apartment was clean and neat. After seing the way they explained the charges, I was happy that I lost only $500 (all my deposit, of course). Be prepare for the midnight car alarms. The lady who works at the amenities (after hours) and Brunch is arrogant.

Surprisingly there are some good things as well.... You get really plenty of parking place, anytime, for you and your guests. Diana in the office seems to be a nice person. The apartment is close to shopping, downtown and almost everything.
