When I joined ValuTeachers, I realized it was an opportunity to give back to the many Educators who have h...elped me in my life.\n\nI never realized just how much Educators give and how little they receive in return, until I became involved with the Education system myself. \n\n I was saddened to find that so many of us do not realize how our state retirement systems actually work. \n\nChallenges facing retiring teachers:\n• 60% salary reduction at retirement from Teacher Retirement System\n• Only 25% of school employees are saving for retirement\n• Rising health insurance costs and premiums\n• Increased cost of living\n• Extended life expectancy\n• Unstable Social Security System\n• Ongoing economic downturn\n• Job insecurity in the education field\nI made a commitment to make sure that NO SCHOOL EMPLOYEE, is left without understanding their State Retirement Plan. While I know this is a large venture, I also know all Employees are worth my time to make sure they are on the best Retirement Path for them. \n\nWhy do I care? We don’t think of all the things that can go wrong, and pass up many of the things that can go right. I was not informed about my own retirement plan and when the time came to look at my portfolio, I realized I could not retire in the lifestyle I had dreamed of. \n\nMy 401k lost so much with the downturns in the markets and I could not make it up by the time I actually retired. While I did have Social Security, what little that was left in my 401k was not enough, all the years of working, planning and saving gone so very quickly, I don’t want that to ever happen to another person. \n\nWhen I joined ValuTeachers, I knew I could help others avoid making the same mistakes and help them protect their hard-earned Retirement investments. \nI have been excited about the many people who have benefited from the ValuTeachers Retirement 101 Programs, we offer. We are welcomed to school districts across the nation and we love helping our Educators see the positive outcomes of the retirement benefits they are entitled to. \n \nWhile we may be entering the end of a school year, this also marks the time of year that we are dealing with some employees retiring, some moving and new staff being considered for next year’s employment. All of this makes it a perfect time to take a deep dive into examining our Employees’ personal goals and what their path to achieving them are. \n \nValuTeachers is Committed to keeping the well-being of Educators and Employees at the center of all that we do.
