Brookings is the fifth largest city in South Dakota, with a population of 18,534. It is the county seat of Brookings County and home to South Dakota State University. Among the popular attractions in Brookings are the city's 19 baseball fields, five movie theatres, two public swimming pools, and the Brookings area Multiplex civic and convention center. The largest employers are Daktronics, which manufactures electric signage, and 3M, a manufacturer of medical supplies, among other products.
