Samarkand is what you would expect to find in Santa Fe, but without Santa Fe prices. Alexandria, the owner, hand picks all the beautiful and cherished items. It's worth just stopping by for the stories! But, really, if you are an appreciator of Asian art, tea, and rugs (and most particuarly, mermaids) and are in Homer, if you don't stop by you'll miss an excellent opportunity.

When we come down from Anchorage, we never leave Homer without paying a visit to your utterly beautiful store. I am always so calmed, the moment I walk in. Your store is like a shrine, a scared space, and it so enriches your community and your visiting customers. I adore all the treasures I have purchased from you over the past few years. Samarkand is an experience for the senses, aromatic, visual, and artistic! The store is filled with beautiful objects from exotic countries, each evoking a sense of the spiritual and the sacred. Amongst the Buddhas and Orthodox Christian Icons, you will find elephants, camels and horses, foo dogs, kylin, dragons and other mythical beasts .. You will see exquisite Chinese porcelain, wood carvings, and items made from silk. This store represents the epitome of the Silk Road! Don't miss it if you are in Homer!

Alexandra, we just love all the beautiful things we have bought from your store. The Tibetan hand-painted cupboard looks just stunning in the new addition to our home. We hung the exquisite Japanese wedding kimono in our entryway, just as you suggested, and it makes a gorgeous statement as you enter the house.
