Getting into real estate really wasn't planned. Our family was going somewhere & saw a old victorian home that was for sale & having a open house. We stopped & fell in love. Total chaos! Listed our current home, were in contract on the "old" new house, etc. Well to be honest, we didn't know what we were doing & the agent at the open house was very dishonest and negected to share some of the facts about the house. Termites (Have you ever seen the aftermath of a swarm? No big deal the agent said!),encroachments, easements on & ON. Our inexperience & his dishonestly was a bad match. To make a LONG story short we didn't buy the old "new" house and were forced out of our house that we had listed with this same agent. He didn't put any contingency clauses in & again we didn't know better! The family slept on the floor of a vacant family members house-Good Times! No wonder sales people get a bad rap, a few rotten apples! But this story has a happy ending because we found a beautiful Victorian home in Mt. Gilead, OH & were lucky enough to find a great agent too. It was then that I was approached by the real estate company that sold us our new home. I thought, "I don't want what happened to my family to happen to anyone else and I knew that you don't have to be dishonest to make a living in sales." My Dad was a agent for a while and my Mom was in car sales. They would never mess over anyone, let alone for a buck. The rest is history! I have been an agent for 13 years now & have helped lots of families and done pretty well. What a great feeling. I have never forgotten the range of feelings from that trying time. I'm sure that it made me a better agent & person! That dishonest agent? His company is still here! Scary!
