Let me first explain that I have a unique distinction, in that, besides being the owner and president of a very successful painting company. Nevertheless, I also hold an advanced level certification in yoga.

So exactly, how do I take advantage of this unique mix of talents?

Well, knowing that many of our customers are experiencing stressful situations in either believing that they might lose their jobs (income) or that has already happened and the stress as a result, is still present.

Let me suggest that the colors in and around your home and office can, and will have a huge influence on your mood, and these are both places where we spend vast amounts of our time.

So what do I recommend for my customers in this economy and in these situations?

Surround yourself in colors that will embellish your desired frame of mind.

What are the rooms where you spend most of your time? Let's consider these rooms; they might be the Kitchen, Family room, Living Room, Great Room, Den...Wherever you seek comfort, consider colors such as Earth tones - soft colors; light browns, light greens, burlap or even hay. Alternatively, in your office space, places where contemplation, deep thought, or sanctuary is desired: conference rooms, meeting rooms, cafeteria, or lounge. These colors all convey a calming and soothing effect.

If you are interested in a more rustic effect, consider colors that mimic fruits and vegetables like pea green, yellow corn, or even carrot orange.

Alternatively, if you are seeking to decorate in ways, which create vibrancy, to energize yourself to go about and take on the world, then we suggest bright colors and even vivid designs. Bright stripes and even bold geometric patterns work great in rooms where you are seeking energy and have even been associated with fostering creativity.

There may still be times when reality sets in and we seek to escape to places where we need a fixed and stable theme.  I then suggest soft retro colors such as; olive greens, vintage pinks, sky blues or dusty reds.

Another interesting pattern that is beginning to emerge is that trim work; doorjambs, window trim, baseboards, crown molding and chair rail can be a color other than white. Contributing to the balance of the other colors in the room, spice browns, rich orange colors, and raspberry hues or even a metallic colors, using glosses or satin finishes will compliment many other colors.

I always keep in mind that during these difficult times that many of our customers are seeking balance and order in places where previously they felt discord and mild chaos. Besides offering professional services as a paint contractor, it is important to connect with the needs of our customers when it comes to maintaining and updating their living and workspaces.
