I was visiting my grandparents at the Willow Valley retirement homes right down the street and we HAD planned to go to their restaurant. However, when we asked an employee she directed us to the Willow Street Diner and recommended their chicken pot pie. When we got there we were greeted and seated with a friendly smile. The good vibes kept coming as the food was served in a timely manner. The food was ABSOLUTELY terrific. Chicken pot pie is HIGHLY recommended however you can only catch it on Sundays and i believe Wednesday. Less than $10 and that includes a salad so it is very reasonably price and i assure you will not be disappointed. We plan on going there every time we visit the grandparents!!! ...read more

Light lunch Sunday 2/20/11. Food was great and fast, waitress was a pleasure. Hostess was so bad we would never go back again. Ignored us when we walked in for several minutes and ignored us at check out time. In both instances eyed us up and continued conversations with waitresses, no "I'll be right with you" or "give me a minute", just a condescending stare. No reason for this rudeness. ...read more

Wasabi Japanese Restaurant

We have been enjoying this restaurant for a few years now after we just happened to find it at Kendig Square one evening. My husband and I, and our two teenage sons think it is fabulous! From the sushi, to the service to the sushi--did I mention the fabulous sushi?!--This place is tops! We have tried sushi in several other Lancaster co. restaurants and this is the best. We also love their Pad Thai and habachi offerings. The atmosphere is very nice for a romantic dinner, too, with elegant, simple decor and a weeping wall fountain with fish pond. Besides regular tables and booths, they also have a few tables available of more traditional seating at low tables. If you go, be sure to try the Thai Iced tea. Enjoy! ...read more

Wasabi Japanese Restaurant

Having traveled extensively throughout Asia for 9 years for my corporation, we retired and moved to Lancaster. When we first ate at Wasabi, we were so impressed with the food, the atmosphere, and the genuine Japanese service. Outside of Japan, San Francisco, and NYC, it's one of the finest Japanese restaurants we have ever eaten at. The sushi and sashimi are so fresh, and the hot dishes (hibachi, tempura, and teriyaki styles) are fantastic. If you like authentic Japanese food, you've got to try Wasabi. ...read more

What a treat to find such delicious and refined food in Southern Lancaster County! This restaurant is family owned, intimate, BYOB, and very reasonably priced. I'm delighted that it has succeeded in a meat-and-potatoes locale and recommend it very highly. Superb! It's a regular stop when our family is together in PA and I have yet to find an equivalent in DE. ...read more

I completely agree with the previous reviewer.... I am from Philly as well and am totally disappointed at the lack of a decent restaurant in Lancaster County. I have found a few good ones but nothing spectacular. Anyway, Wasabi is adorable. Their sushi gets 4 stars hands down, as I am afraid to try sushi anywhere else in Lancaster County. Their entrees? Eh... some are great, others are just OK. It depends on what you order. ...read more

Wasabi Japanese Restaurant

Well coming from Philadelphia, I've often been disappointed in 95% of the restaurants in Lancaster county. Even though my friends go for sushi once a month at Wasabi, I go with them to sample the other dishes. Those, from what I have had are good, though I think they should push a little farther in terms of flavor. They're good, yes, worth going back, yes, but not knock-off-your socks good that you'll insist to go there all the time good. (I was at DC and their miso soup was amazing) So yes, if you haven't had japanese before, and don't want to go to Philadelphia or New York City, this is a nice place to start. ...read more

I have no bias in favor of Willow Valley, to the contrary I find Bird-in-Hand Family Inn a more economical and quite comfortable place to stay. But facts are stubborn things and the fact is that Willow Valley has by FAR the best buffet in Amish country. If you get the discount coupons you can eat for about $16 per person. They featur excellent prime rib and steamed JUMBO shrimp. Their Amish dishes, eg pork and kraut and botboi (potpie) are also delicious. Just the facts ma'am. ...read more

How Do Restaurants Make Enchiladas?

Many people think that an enchilada in a restaurant is much better than anything they can ever find at home, unless they know a lot of Hispanic people.
