What a waste of time and energy. My husband and I got caught up in this bait and switch. We received a "Grand Prize winner" mailing for 6 free months, 2 hours each of personal training, and 10 free passes for friends. We went to the gym in our gear ready to claim our prize and work out. After our gym tour we were told we would have to sign up for 12 or 18 months in order to gain our grand prize. We would need to pay $75 or $49 a month each (month-to-month or for 12 months), plus and upfront $149 each for joining. When we declined, we were offered a 3-day free trial (also super generous, given we can get a 7-day free trial just by visiting their website). Be clear, we expected some catch (we are not that naive), but just not such a jarring expense, given there was no asterisks or fine print on the mailer. So "Grand Prize Winners" out there, do the math and be prepared to pay $1000 - $1500 for your "grand" prize (or more - our offer was lower because we are a couple - what a deal!). Or, do like we are doing by reporting Sweat Fitness to the Better Business Bureau www.easternpa.bbb (dot) org and the Pennsylvania State Attorney General for Consumer Protection services (www.attorneygeneral.gov/complaints.aspx?id=451). At least you'll feel like a real winner for helping others. ...read more

My partner and I joined this gym sometime last fall in order to get in shape over the winter. There was nothing special about the gym but it worked for what we needed it for, to use the treadmills, ellipticals, etc. The problem occurred when I tried to quit! When I called the person informed me that I had signed a contract and that i would be required to pay for two more months. When we signed up the only thing we signed was what we thought was the credit card signature. I never signed anything at all! And NO ONE told us we were committing to anything other than paying a month to month fee of 65$ ...read more

I use to work out at the PSC before I moved over to Sweat. Nice facility but what I've noticed (and not just this location because I would train at other locations as well) is that the staff is so arogant. I'm not there to chat or socialize with these guys (mostly guys, not the gals), but they need to grow up and take some courses on professionalism, customer service and manners. Really impersonal trainers, and then when you ask for a hand in the gym, it was like pulling teeth and you felt awkward asking. Hopefully things have changed since then, but I left Sweat and am much happier at a smaller gym in Old City. ...read more

Been coming to this Sweat since they opened a while back. To be honest, I dont take the classes, nor use the salon/tanning or chiro.. but nice that they offer them. Nor do I need a trainer, so cant comment on any 'attitudes'. However, I run often, and do abwork and lift most times. The equipment is up-to-date, locker rooms are clean, and music is decent. I've not had to wait more than a minute for any treadmill, and everythign is clean and in good order (ab equipment, machines, etc). Wish they had more channels on the TV's (ESPN/Comcastsports) but besides that.. Sweat is good, check it out. Did I mention coffee bar?? Clutch. ...read more

This gym has amazing equipment and somewhat flexible schedules but it hires some of the most "full-of-it" attitude employees I've ever seen. The trainers are there to pose and they even have the nerve of make fun of gymgoers bodyshape within earshot. New equipment does not exclude any health center of their duty to hire professionals, specially at the prices they charge. Skip this one ...read more
