Give your child a life skill

As Spring approaches, we all start thinking about getting in shape for the summer. If we have chilren, we start thinking about getting our kids ready for pool time. As a swim teacher, safety around the pool is so important. An important factor that parents may not realize is the distance of the water from the surface of the surrounding deck or walkway.  A child should be able to reach from the water to the side, if the water level is so low that it makes it difficult for the child to reach the edge, it makes it unsafe for the swimmer. ...read more

Service

Harris Family Daycare has been in existence for eleven years.  Family members provide around the clock care. The daycare is open on holidays and weekends. Our focus for your child is love and education. .  Play is the medium through which we educate our little learners.  It is our belief as well as supported by current research, that children learn a great deal through playful interactions.  Our childcare area is set up so the children can develop fine and gross motor skills through exploration of the environment.  During our daily literacy time, we help your child develop a love for reading.Teachable moments are used to give children the maximum learning experience throughout the day. For example, a child may have an interest in cars, here at Harris Daycare we would use cars to teach one to one corespondence, colors, weight, and literacy.        I am currently enrolled in the Keystone Stars program which goes above and beyond state regulations.  I have an Associates Degree in early childhood education with a Bachelor's degree pending from Chestnut Hill College.  I attend many different workshops that keep me updated with new regulations and policies as they are ever changing.  Staff also recieve ongoing mandated  and non-mandated trainings.      Parent involvment is encouraged.  Parents are a part of curriculm  planning, and field trip arrangements.  We follow  the standards that are designed by the state of Pennsylvania; however,  it's up to the Harris childcare  to be creative and implement the core concepts in a fun and interesting  way.         ...read more
