About Old Forge, PA

Old Forge is a borough located in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. The city is known for, and named for, the creation of the first iron forge in 1789. The city is also known for Old Forge Pizza, a kind of pizza created by Mrs. Ghigiarelli, an Old Forge resident. Today this kind of pizza is served all over the western part of the state and as far away as Florida and Michigan. At one time the city has a thriving coal mining industry. Among the city's largest employers today are the Gabriel Sporting Goods Company and the King Coil Mattress Company. Students here are served by the Old Forge School District. There are numerous famous people with ties to the city including Robert Nardelli, CEO of the Chrysler Corporation and actor Allen Jones.

If I could leave negative stars, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. My cat had been vomiting for two days and we brought him in for an exam. I wasn’t aware that their full exam consisted of taking his temperature and nothing further. When his condition did not improve, we brought him in again two days later and we wound up spending almost $700 before bringing him to another vet for a second opinion. When he was properly examined by the second doctor, he found the problem right away and learned he needed emergency surgery that day. When I went back to the first office to get copies of his records, I was met with rude comments and treated like a child for not bringing him back to them for a third visit. If you care about the well-being of your animal I highly suggest you go to a different vet. ...read more
