The food at Du Jour has always been good, but in my opinion, not worth the prices they're asking. The service is slow and not particularly friendly, and the drinks at the coffee bar are fair to mediocre (had a very watered down hot chocolate which was the last straw for me). Along the Main Line you'll see a number of cutsie businesses with precocious names and a lot of money backing them ... businesses that, quite frankly, would never make it in New York - or even Philadelphia. Restaurant quality is, for the most part, abysmal. DuJour is a gourmet shop I so WANT to like and in fact, DID like, prior to its current incarnation. Since enlarging their space and offering a full kitchen, this popular Haverford spot has become soooo inconsistent. Initially I blamed it on growing pains. Now ... well it's flat out inconsistent. When they're good, DuJour is awesome, offering fantastic salads, sandwiches, pizzas, veggies, "Zone" and "Atkins" friendly food for all the Main Line anexorics -- it's just that they're never GOOD on a CONSISTENT basis. Stale rolls, prolonging the life of their carry-out goods long after they should have been remade fresh, not cooking items to order, uncooked chicken in salads, a BIZARRE checkout system ...the list goes on and on. ...read more
