About Bellefonte, PA
Bellefonte is a borough in Centre County, Pennsylvania. It is part of the State College, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of 2007 the population was around 7,000. It is the county seat of Centre County. Up until 2006 a popular attraction in Bellefonte was the Bush House, built in 1868. Built by Daniel G. Bush, it was one of the first hotels in the country to have electric lighting. Thomas Edison was known to have frequented the Bush House. The house burned to the ground in 2006. Today, many visitors frequent the Bellefonte Museum. The biggest schools in the area are Bellefonte High School and Bellefonte Elementary School. Famous persons from Bellefonte include sculptor George Grey Barnard and MLB pitcher Eric Milton.
