About Tillamook, OR

Tillamook is the county seat of Tillamook County, Oregon and is located on the Tillamook Bay. Tillamook is best known for its Tillamook County Creamery Association which produces the popular Tillamook cheese and other dairy products and is one of the area largest employers. Another larger employer is the Manzanita Lumber Company. Tillamook Bay Community College is the city's largest school. Tillamook hosts an annual Dairy Parade and Rodeo in June. Area attraction include the Tillamook Air Museum, the Cape Meares Lighthouse, and Munson Creek Falls. Famous residents include actor Bridget Marquardt.

The Tillamook Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is again offering scholarships to female residents of Tillamook County. There are three types of scholarships being offered for the 2016-2017 academic year: - up to $1500 for those planning to attend a 4 year university full-time o Note that both graduating seniors and women who have graduated from high school earlier are eligible to apply for this scholarship - up to $2500 (2 scholarships) for continuing college students attending a 4 year university full-time - up to $1800 for students planning to attend TBCC for a minimum of 6 credit hours each term Funds can be used for tuition, fees, and books and will be paid directly to the school. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible to receive the next term’s funding. Additional criteria and applications may be obtained by visiting the AAUW web site: http://tillamook-or.aauw.net Applications must be received or postmarked by the third Tuesday in February (February 16, 2016). Instructions are included in the application. Top applicants may be interviewed in person (preferable) or via conference call/skype by the AAUW scholarship committee on Saturday, April 9, 2016.
