Rattan is a part of the Pushmataha County region/metro area of Oklahoma. Major attractions include Hugo Wildlife Management Area and Waterfowl Refuge. Each year in the spring season there is the annual Memorial Day Event. Among the biggest companies in Rattan are Hood's Corner and Vaden Sarah. The biggest schools here are Rattan Junior High School and Rattan High School. One of the best places to visit when you are in Rattan is Hugo Lake State Park.
