Thurman is a part of the Gallia County region/metro area of Ohio. Major attractions include Rock Creek Campground and Tycoon Lake Wilderness Area. Each year in the fall season there is the annual Farm Tour. Among the biggest companies in Thurman are Freddi's and Four Seasons Veterinary Clinic. The biggest schools here are University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College. One of the best places to visit when you are in Thurman is Cooper Hollow Wilderness Area.
