Action Against Hunger USA

The parent organization in France is great, but conversations with current and former staff of ACF USA paint a depressing picture of an organization that's lost it's way - weak financial management and trouble finding and keeping good staff. It sounds to this former contributor like an organization that has become very internally focused -- it's lost sight of the mission. Too bad, maybe the parent in France can help 'sort things out'... ...read more

Dr. Schwartz was the vet I saw. I had so many questions about my newly adopted dog. To most of my questions she answer, "maybe" or "probably". she barely checked him and made me feel like an idiot for having concerns. he had been coughing, and making noises that sounded like he couldn't breath. he was also biting certain areas of his body until all the hair was gone. she said if could be allergies, but did nothing to find out if it really was or not. to certain questions she even said, "you'll figure it out". i'm paying for YOU to figure it out, i'm not a vet. she was rude, pretentious and above all lazy. ...read more

My girlfriend and I adopted a ultra sweet cat from this terrible place. We noticed that the new kitty wasn't eating. We called the society who told us that it was probably stress and not to worry. We then took her to our local vet who tells us that 3 of her teeth were knocked out, roots exposed and a fourth was cracked! We asked if this was recent and he said "no". The bill for the repair was $1300 and it was an immediate concern for her heath so we got the work done. After contacting the INhumane society they basically said it was our problem and had nothing but excuses and no sympathy. \t\n\t\nWe basically rescued a fantastic cat from the people who supposedly "rescue" animals. This place smelled, the staff were more interested on foisting an animal onto us and didn't even have up-to-date records for the animals under their care!\t\n\t\nTerrible, terrible, terrible and for those adopting beware. You will also probably have to nurse your animal back to health.\t\n\t\nNOT RECOMMENDED. ...read more

Terrific doctors who treat your pet like their own. So affordable and very professional. I brought my dog in for distemper , rabie shots 2 work ups to check for suspected hypothyroid condition and other diseases plus total physical checkup exam and a year supply of heartgard all for under $250. Wow. Again did I mention how amazing the doctors and staff are !! You're foolish to pay the overpriced vets for the same if not better care for your pets. ...read more

I needed to get my 6 month old kitten neutered, however the vet office I normally take him to wanted to charge me $250 or more to get the procedure done. I was charged $45 (including the $5 additional charge to a weekend procedure), which was a much better deal. The staff was a little impersonal, and the visit seemed a little rushed, but in the end, everything turned out fine. I called back a few days later to ask when the stitches should start to disolve, and the woman who answered my call was very nice and personal.\t\n\t\nMy only advice: If you're taking your animal to get neutered/spayed, try to avoid Saturdays. It seemed like they were unusually busy. But overall, I was pleased with the experience. ...read more
