What is "Nuevo Flamenco"?
Nuevo Flamenco ("New Flamenco") a.k.a. Rumba Flamenca (Flamenco Rumba) is synonymous with contemporary flamenco and is a modern derivative of tradition flamenco. A few of today's leading Nuevo Flamenco guitarists are Stunz&Farrah;, Ottmar Liebert, Jesse Cook, Armik, Gipsy Kings, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Alex Fox and Jason&Elysa.
NY Guitar Academy is the only school in NY that offers courses in Nuevo Flamenco guitar. In these courses students will learn all the different Rumba strums and how to play, create/compose melodic solos as the leading Nuevo Flamenco guitarist do. In the first course students learn "The Night" by Ottmar Liebert, "Romanza/Mi Favorita" by Jason&Elysa, "Tempestad" by Juan Serrano and "Faena" by the Gipsy Kings. Students will be encouraged to form groups (duos or trios).
